>> Nov 5 - This past weekend was literally a banner weekend for SDSSAA football as no less than four championship titles were awarded at the James Jerome Sports Complex Friday and Saturday. Friday featured a pair of nail biting flag football finals, with St Benedict scoring a major on the next-to-last play of the "B" final to upset league champs Confederation, while the "A" final between Marymount and Lockerby proved to be all about defence as the Regals slipped past the Vikings 1-0 thanks for a first quarter rouge. On Saturday, the boys "B" final saw the Lockerby Vikings outlasting the Lasalle Lancers in the afternoon game, while the "A" final saw the league finalist Lo-Ellen Park Knights erase a 10-7 first half deficit en route to a 28-17 title win against upstart St Charles Cardinals. The Knights now face St Mary's of the Soo in the lock city in the NOSSA semi final on Saturday, November 10th.

>> Oct 11 - In a nip and tuck battle between two south end rivals, the Lo-Ellen Park Knights emerged the overall victor, winning three of the four age groups contested and edging Lockerby by two points to claim their second team aggregate banner in the past three years. Last year it was Lockerby doing the honours, topping Lo-Ellen by just four points. St Benedict with 20 points and Confederation with 16 rounded out the top four schools during the one day competition. >> Sep 20 - Over 200 athletes and 12 schools took part in the first ever SDSSAA preliminary 3 person relay meet, held on Sept 19th at Fielding Memorial Park. With that many runners and teams on a short and fast course organization at the finish line was a bit of a challenge and complete accurate results not possible. Regardless of overall or category placing all runners and coaches had a blast at the new event.

Unfortunately only the top finishers can be declared with any confidence. The Lo-Ellen Park Knights team of Tom Gore, Aiden Spoel and Brandon Costello won the mixed boys category while the St. Benedict's Bears trio of Brandon Belan, Emily Marcolini and Owen Montpelllier placed first in the open Coed event. The Lockerby Composite Vikings squad of Ashley Sandre, Miranda Boudreau and Rachel Leck took top spot in the mixed Girls relay race.

This event served as warm up to the SDSSAA cross country relay championship that takes place in early October, featuring larger teams and a longer tougher course.
